Not So Fast My Friend

The Honeymoon is over, Mr. Flynn. Good work with the Born signing but there is much to do. We hear there are new jerseys this year. If thats true, they need to be ordered 2 weeks ago. We havent heard anything about them, so all we can assume right now is that they wont be delivered until after the tournament, and they will look like this.
And what about practices? Just because your thoroughbred possesses god-like talent, it doesnt mean the rest of the team can just show up and expect to win. Lets get shit going, "Coach."

Xavier is Born Again
Mood:
vegas lucky
In what may be a job-saving move, "Coach" Mike Flynn has convinced aging Leftfielder Chris Born to play for the Musketeers after 2 years of retirement. Concerns about Born's ability at his old are mitigated by a much greater concern with the physical condition of the team's 55 year old shortstop.
Born's defense will be a welcome addition to the Musketeers, who generally pride themselves on defensive-minded softball. Still, it should be noted that in his last season with Xavier, Born was producing more cans of corn than the jolly green giant - something that prompted coach Zedella to bat Born in the dreaded "so bad i'm even behind Hollowell" spot in the lineup. It is widely known and rarely discussed fact that this move is what Prompted Born's departure. Rumors abound regarding this decision ultimately sparking a series of events which culminated with the forced resignation of Mark Zedella.
But now Born is back, and if he can in fact return to his pre-natal levels of production, Xavier becomes a formidable opponent again. Already folks in Arlington and Fairfax - aka the non-gay side of the river - are picking XU to go deep into this year's tournament. Finally Supernova talent Doug Blecki will have some help in the lineup. His sidekick Born and some other people should be able to give Doug the support he needs to help XU reach that next level.
So congratulations Mr. Flynn. So far, so good. This is a delicate period in the history of Xavier Softball, and you appear to have the team headed in the right direction.

Welcome to the Site!

Topic: New Hire?!
Welcome to the new site, XU Softball fans! We here at www.firemikeflynn.com have created this site because we are surprised that:
1) Mark Zedella has stepped down
2) Mike Flynn, with his .25 seasons of experience was chosen as his successor.
Its like rebuilding an antique car, and then giving a 10 year old the keys. Sure, this kid might do things with the car that you never thought possible, but theres a much greater chance he'll come walking holding a steering wheel in one hand and the only remaining tire in the other.
Sticking with the analogy - why would someone put all that effort into the car just to give the keys away when the car is finally running smoothly?
Just baffling. At any rate, stay tuned and look for more entries. If things go well, we might be buying obtaining a free lycos registration for www.extendmikeflynnscontract.com.
